More new senior housing in Plymouth

There's a new Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) being proposed for Plymouth. The Star and Tribune reported on it just this morning.

Trillium_map Trillium Woods would offer a continuum of services from independent senior apartments to assisted living, to memory care to skilled nursing.

There is some risk to the developer with this project since there are very few CCRCs in Minnesota. (See Glossary of Housing Terms)There will be some consumer education required!

With the glut of high end indpedent housing that has been going in the second and third ring suburbs, it's nice to see a CCRC go in. Although, this type of housing isn't necessarily any more affordable than some of the new complexes built by Gramercy Cooperative.

The hefty entrance fee of about $270,000 (acccording to the article in the Strib) will offer you a steady monthly rent whether you're in the independent, assisted, or nursing units. While not inexpensive, it sure offers some security knowing Trillium is responsible for all levels of your care, even if your health declines.

Plymouth may get it's first nursing home
